Managed Services Proposal
An IT managed services engagement covering onboarding, 24/7 monitoring and support, a security baseline, and a quarterly business review over a three-month initial term.
Why now.
Cedar Ridge Accounting relies on its systems being available and secure during long client seasons, but currently handles IT reactively with no monitoring, patching discipline, or security baseline. Northgate IT Partners will onboard the environment, then provide 24/7 monitoring and helpdesk support, a managed security baseline, and a quarterly review, moving the firm from break-fix to a managed, accountable service.
The problem & solution.
IT is handled reactively: there is no monitoring or alerting, patching is inconsistent, backups are unverified, and there is no security baseline, which leaves the firm exposed during its busiest and most sensitive periods.
A managed services engagement covering a documented onboarding and assessment, 24/7 monitoring and helpdesk support under defined SLAs, a security baseline (patching, MFA, and backup verification), and a quarterly business review and roadmap.

Moved a reactive-IT firm to a managed model with monitoring, patching, and a security baseline.
Onboarded a multi-site environment and standardized backup and MFA.
Differentiators
- Per-user and per-endpoint scope with defined SLAs, not vague best-effort support
- A security baseline (patching, MFA, backup verification) built in from the start
- A quarterly business review that ties IT to the firm's priorities
What could go wrong.
The fine print.
This proposal may be attached to a separate service agreement or master services agreement if the parties choose to execute one.
Documentation and configurations created for the client's environment belong to the client on payment. Northgate IT Partners retains ownership of its tools, scripts, and pre-existing methods. Each party protects the other's confidential information.
The initial term is three months. Any renewal must be agreed in writing, including its scope, fee, and billing cadence. Either party may terminate the initial term with 30 days written notice. On termination, Northgate IT Partners removes its access and hands over documentation and credentials; fees for the active period remain payable.

Template questions
What should a managed services (MSP) proposal include?
A strong MSP proposal covers onboarding and an environment assessment, the monitoring and support scope with SLAs by priority, a security baseline (patching, MFA, and backup verification), what is out of scope such as licenses and projects, a quarterly review, and pricing for a defined term. Clear SLAs and scope boundaries are what make it a managed service rather than best-effort support.
How is MSP pricing structured?
Managed services are usually priced per user or per endpoint on a recurring basis, sometimes with a one-time onboarding fee. This template presents a three-month initial term with onboarding, managed support, a security baseline, and a quarterly review as line items, paid across onboarding and monthly milestones that add up to the total.
What should be out of scope in an MSP proposal?
Typically hardware, software licenses, and cloud subscriptions (billed at cost or bought by the client), major projects like migrations (scoped separately), and incident response for issues predating onboarding. Listing exclusions up front prevents the managed fee from silently absorbing project-sized work.
What SLAs belong in a managed services proposal?
Response-time targets by priority (for example critical, high, and normal), monitoring coverage such as 24/7 on critical systems, and the security baseline you commit to maintaining. This template ties support to defined SLAs and reviews performance against them each quarter.
